Our Mission

The mission of Alice Lloyd College is to educate mountain people for positions of leadership by providing opportunities for Appalachian young people to earn a college education regardless of their financial status. Tuition is guaranteed to students from our 108-county service area which spans parts of Kentucky, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia. Students pay no out-of-pocket cost for their education, but they must agree to work to help pay their own way. All of this is accomplished in an atmosphere in which Christian values and high personal standards are maintained and encouraged. Students are encouraged to return to their home areas to serve in positions of leadership, such as: teachers, doctors, nurses, pharmacists, lawyers, engineers, and many, many other professional careers.
